Fires:
We're five-ish days away and we've been seeing some increased fire activity up here in the boat.
The Middle-Fork fire is currently north of our planned route, but the southern boundary of the closure ends at the road over Buffalo Pass. It doesn't appear that the road will be closed but the Forest Service has told me they make that call daily, so we've got a backup route.
Backup Route:
Leaves are changing up in the high country and this backup route circumnavigates Sand Mountain, the historic mining town of Hahns Peak and Farwell Mountain. It's a little more challenging but still about a 3 on the
Cruise Moab scale. Check out the links on the left for maps of the planned route as well as the backup.
Comms:
We've got a couple HAMS joining us but we'll also be running FRS/GMRS and CB on
Channel 5 across the board.
If you're a licensed HAM and want to coordinate some longer range comms, shoot me a message!
POIs:
I've updated the route map to shop a few of the POI we're planning to stop at, as well as the meeting points and Saturday night camping. Those coming early, shoot me an email/text/phone call if you need a spot to camp, eat or where find libations (i'll join you)!
Pack the layers, it's getting cold up here at night! Frost on the windshield in the moring and a dusting of snow last week.
We'll see you soon!
